Eating local in winter
It’s snowing outside and thanks to our freezer, we are stilling eating local, organic food. A pot of chili is simmering on the stove (Cox Family farms ground beef, organic tomatoes/sauce, cayenne pepper from our garden, local garlic and kidney beans.) We’re now making our own butter from Snowville Creamery cream and enjoying some fantastic baked goods as well. Healthy eating has never tasted so good!
Kobe beef (American Wagyu)
Everyone always wants to know what we are eating so here goes…
We tried some Kobe/American Wagyu ground beef this week. I was looking forward to finding out what all the hype is about. I have to give it a big thumbs down! It was so fatty, I couldn’t even eat it. When I poured the grease out of the pan from a 1lb package, there was a full 8 oz. of fat. Not good eating if you ask me.
So, instead, I threw in some of our lean ground beef and topped it with Kenny’s Farmhouse Barren County bleu cheese. On a very thinly sliced bread, I have to say, there is nothing better. Big beefy flavor, juicy to no end and that wonderful pairing of pungent bleu cheese.
